Defective Car – $4M
This sad wrongful death case was caused by a defective exhaust system in a
car. As a result of inadequate heat-shielding of the exhaust system, the
car caught on fire causing the death of two children who were back seat
passengers in the car.
Legally, this was a very tough case because of the age of the car, the fact
that there was a dispute over the manufacturer of the exhaust system, and
because the defendants were Japanese companies causing jurisdictional
difficulties.
Partnering with another law firm, we fought a long and tough battle to
finally prevail in achieving a $4,000,000 settlement on behalf of the
family.
