Professional Biography
Christina grew up in the Elmira area and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1994. Upon graduation, Christina enrolled at Georgetown University where she earned dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Classics and International Relations and studied International Economics abroad at the University of Antwerp, Belgium.
While in college Christina was a member of the Georgetown Women’s Soccer Team. A team captain and prolific scorer, Christina held Georgetown University’s records for the most career goals, assists and points from 1998 through 2010. In 2017, Christina became the first female soccer player ever to be inducted into Georgetown’s Sports Hall of Fame. Christina has also been inducted into the Halls of Fame for Notre Dame High School, Chemung County and New York State’s Section IV for her high school athletic achievements.
Christina attended law school at the University of Montana where she earned several academic scholarships and served Montana’s Native American population through work in the Indian Law Clinic. In the summer of 2002 Christina traveled to Geneva, Switzerland to study international indigenous affairs and participate in a conference celebrating the conclusion of the International Decade of the World’s Indigenous People. A member of Montana Law’s highly selective Moot Court Team, Christina was honored as the Western Region’s Best Oralist in 2004, and her team of three earned a trip to New York City to compete in the National Moot Court finals.
Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum
Christina achieved admission into the national Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, and received the New York Academy of Trial Lawyer’s President’s Award for outstanding trial advocacy. In addition, for the past 6 consecutive years the Ziff Law Firm has been named a National Best Law Firm by U.S. News. Ziff Law is the only plaintiffs firm in the Elmira, Corning, or Ithaca areas to receive such designation.
Academy of Trial Lawyers
Christina currently serves on the board of directors for the Academy of Trial Lawyers, New York’s most prestigious trial advocacy organization. One of six members to be named an Academy Dean for her work on continuing legal education, Christina has presented more than 26 CLE Seminars to practicing lawyers at locations all across New York State. Christina is the only attorney in the Southern Tier selected by the Academy to sit on panel charged with interviewing nominees to New York’s Court of Appeals, the highest court in New York State.

Personal Background
Christina has always been involved with public service. After graduating from Georgetown, Christina joined Americorps’ National Civilian Community Corps, a volunteer program often referred to as the “domestic Peace Corps.” Serving in the NCCC for over two years and performing more than 6,500 hours of community service, Christina had the opportunity to travel the country and work with a myriad of organizations doing everything from providing disaster relief with FEMA and the Red Cross, building trails in our National Parks, and working as an aid in inner-city schools.
Locally, Christina is a former member of the Notre Dame High School and Chemung Valley Montessori Boards of Directors, and has served as the secretary of the Arctic League Board of Directors for the past six years. She is also currently a soccer coach with the Chemung Valley Soccer Association. In 2007, Christina received the Jefferson Award for Public Service for her public service contributions to the Southern Tier.
Christina is married to Damian Sonsire, an Elmira native and fellow Notre Dame High School graduate who has worked as a Chemung County Assistant District Attorney since 1999. In her spare time Christina enjoys running, camping, reading and, more than anything else, being a mom to her two amazing young daughters.
