Annette Thorne, one of the Ziff Law Firm’s ace injury paralegals, has put on her dancing shoes to support local charities. Annette has volunteered to participate in the Elmira Rotary Club’s gala Dancing With Our Stars event, Oct. 23 at the Clemens Center. She’s the dance instructor for Jim Pfiffer, who’s well-known in the community as the director of the Friends of the Chemung River Watershed and a former columnist and reporter with the Star-Gazette.

Like the TV show, this event pits celebrities in a dance competition, but the winnings go to the dancers’ charity of choice.  Jim’s dancing for his cause, the Chemung River Watershed, while Annette’s dancing for the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA.

Anyone who knows Annette knows she’s a focused person in whatever she applies her attention too. Here at Ziff Law, Annette is a paralegal to attorney Christina Bruner Sonsire, who specializes in personal injury and medical malpractice cases. On the dance floor, she’s the partner to Jim Pfiffer, who specializes in being a very funny guy whenever the opportunity arises.

Eight couples are competing in Dancing With Our Stars. Besides Jim & Annette, there is Katie Boland & Reyman Clark, Bernadette Cleary-Drew & David Ripley, Randi Hewit & Tom Petzke, Chris Krantz & Jamie Butcher, Joe Pasquarelli & Robyn Bennett, Steve Vesey & Jill Dunphy, and John Wood & Jill DiBartolomeo.

Mark your calendar with the date for the event: Saturday, October 23, 2010! Cocktails are at 6 p.m., the finale’s at 7 p.m., and there’s an after-party to follow. General admission tickets are $20, $10 for students with I.D. Each ticket is worth one vote in the competition. VIP tickets are available for $60, and they give you access to seating on the Clemens Center’s lower level as well as admission to the after-party, where you can mingle with the celebrities and enjoy hors d’oeuvres from Horigan’s Tavern and a cash bar.
