We have heard those horror stories and we can tell you that we have never had a referral fee dispute with a referring attorney. Never. Typically, we pay a straight 1/3rd referral fee in all injury cases and a “slide on a slide” fee in medical malpractice cases. Don’t know what that means? Don’t worry, we will explain it and we will document our arrangement in writing so there are no unpleasant surprises for anyone.
- We make the referral process easy. You don’t have to hunt for a lawyer in Buffalo, Syracuse, Binghamton or anywhere in NY. Why? Because if ZiffLaw can’t handle your case or if we think your client would be better served by another lawyer in another city, we will take on the work of finding that lawyer and facilitating the referral. No more having to hunt all over the state to find someone to quickly jump on that referred case. Think of it as one stop shopping. Nice!
- We get top dollar on every case. We are recognized as NY SuperLawyers, selected for Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, active in NYSTLA, the Academy of Trial Lawyers, etc. so we like to think we are among the best injury lawyers in Upstate NY. But we know that past results, although nice, are no guarantee of future outcomes so we continue to work our tails off to get top dollar on every case.
- We keep you in the loop. We have an automated system for emailing status reports to you on a quarterly basis (heck, if you want them every month, we can easily do that too).
- We make you look good. We will give you our personal cell phone numbers and email addresses so you can reach us anytime to check on the case you have referred to us. We give the highest priority to referred cases and we know the importance of immediately jumping on any referred case.
- We have been practicing injury law in upstate New York and Pennsylvania for more than 60 years. You can be sure that we know what we’re doing, unlike firms that “take” personal injury cases, but don’t have experienced trial lawyers on staff.
- If you are not an experienced personal injury lawyer, these are not cases that you want to try to handle yourself. Personal injury litigation can be lucrative, but it is also characterized by a high degree of risk, a lot of hours, and significant carrying costs. We are prepared to assume that risk, put in those hours, and carry those costs. It’s much easier to refer such cases to us. You might make a very nice check without having to do anything else.
