New Medicare Premium, Deductible, and Coinsurance Charges for 2007

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced the new Medicare premiums, deductibles, and coinsurances. The standard Medicare Part B premium is increasing by 5.6 percent, the smallest increase since 2001.
Here are all the new Medicare figures:
- Part B premium: $93.50 /month (was $88.50)
- Part B deductible: $131 (was $124)
- Part A deductible: $992 (was $952)
- Co-payment for hospital stay days 61–90: $248/day (was $238)
- Co-payment for hospital stay days 91 and beyond: $496/day (was $476)
- Skilled nursing facility co-payment, days 21–100: $124/day (was $119)
As directed by the 2003 Medicare law, for the first time, higher income beneficiaries will pay higher Part B premiums. Following are the higher premium rates.
- Individuals with annual incomes between $80,000 and $100,000 and married couples with annual incomes between $160,000 and $200,000 in 2007 will pay a monthly premium of $106.
- Individuals with annual incomes between $100,000 and $150,000 and married couples with annual incomes between $200,000 and $300,000 in 2007 will pay a monthly premium of $124.70.
- Individuals with annual incomes between $150,000 and $200,000 and married couples with annual incomes between $300,000 and $400,000 in 2007 will pay a monthly premium of $143.40.
- Individuals with annual incomes of $200,000 or more and married couples with annual incomes of $400,000 or more in 2007 will pay a monthly premium of $162.10.
