Sorry Rosalie, but no flashlight. Checking on mileage is reimbursement is no reason for a represented client to contact the insurance company.

I advise my clients regarding mileage reimbursement as I do in my blog post on the subject at

It’s just never a good idea to contact the insurance company if you’re represented because there are just too many seemingly innocent conversations those folks can drag you into that can cause you problems.

The only good reason I would have to talk to the insurance representative is to find out why I have not received my mileage reimbursement payment after it has been sent to them certified mail receipt and thirty days has past after they received the request confirmed on line at USPS website.

The best reason for a represented client to talk to a WC representative is if he/she is trying to prove mental deficiency or incompetency. This is especially useful in head injury cases.

I can’t find a good reason to talk the Bad Guys, but I can state why it is a good reason to get good counsel like the “ZIFF LAW FIRM”. The insurance carrier is mandated by law to have an attorney or a licensed representative appear at every hearing. These attorneys and licensed representatives often have years of experience, have handled thousands of hearings and are well versed in representing the CARRIER’S point of view. While there is no similar statute requiring the claimant to be represented, it is highly recommend that a claimant retain counsel first and foremost.
