A client comes in for a consultation for a divorce. She seemed very nice, as all of my client’s do. I began by asking for basic information about her address, phone number, number of children, etc. I asked her questions about her Husband and all was going smoothly….until we hit the date of marriage.
“What was your date of marriage to STBX?” (That’s Soon to Be Ex in my language)
“Well, which one?” she asked.
“To your Husband, STBX?” I retorted.
“I heard you! Which one?” she yelled back at me. I started to think that this was a joke, kind of like Who’s on first?
“I don’t think you understand what I am asking you. What was the date that you got married to STBX?” I said trying to sound calm and not irritated.
“We were married four times, and divorced three,” she said with a straight face.
Need I say more?
Moral of the Story:
Never say never.
