The Finger Lakes New York Harley Owner’s Group (HOG) and Ithaca Harley-Davidson Inc. will host a free Motorcyclist Down!! Safety Course from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the dealership at the junction of state Routes 13 and 224 in Cayuta, NY.

Motorcyclist Down gives riders the basic skills they need to respond in a crisis before first responders arrive. The first five minutes after an accident are very critical.

Let’s face it – many of us ride in a group – your fellow riders are liekely to be the first person to respond if there is a collision – learn how to do more than hold their hand and pray for the ambulance to get there

This is not a basic first-aid class — this class shows you how to respond to an accident where there are major injuries.

Be warned — the images used in the class are graphic.

The class is open to the public.

Please call 607-594-3536, though, and tell them you plan to attend so they can be sure to accommodate a big group, if needed.

This is not a class just for motorcyclists. All drivers should attend, in case you are the first person on the scene of a major accident and need to respond correctly.

It’s also a great reminder to motorists to keep a watchful eye out for motorcyclists!
