Bill:

I wholeheartedly agree. As a lawyer who truly loves his work, it's often frustrating to me when laws seem to achieve an inequitable or unfair result. Thankfully, the law evolves every day (making it VERY tough to keep up with the constant changes) and it often requires an unfair result to be brought to our legislators attention so the laws can be "adjusted" as you suggest. I will be the first to admit our system isn't perfect but I have yet to see another legal system that even comes close.

Thanks for posting your comment!

An Elmira man was sentenced yesterday to 12 years in prison for forcing his girlfriend to perform sexual acts. I agree that this was a heinous crime but ....how does 1 1/2 to 3 years for killing someone and covering it up compare ? Seems some laws should be "adjusted". Keep up the good work Mr Reed.

Andrejs:

I wholeheartedly agree and I try to remind myself to use the word "crash" or "collision" instead of "accident" at all times but sometimes old habits die hard. Thanks for the reminder.

You might get a kick out of my prior post on this very topic: <a href="http://www.zifflaw.com/NYBikeAccidentBlog/accident-wrong-word-for-bicycle-collisions/" rel="nofollow">http://www.zifflaw.com/NYBikeAccidentBlog/accident-wrong-word-for-bicycle-collisions/</a>

I wish they would follow LAB's practice of saying it's the scene of a "crash" rather than "accident." We know it was a crash; whether that crash deserves to be called an accident is open for examination.
