On my second day at Ziff Law, Attorney Ray Schlather — a well-respected and dignified lawyer from Ithaca, New York — suggested our firm put a team together to compete in the relay division of this summer’s Cayuga Sprint Triathlon. 

Sure, I thought to myself.  I am a dedicated member of the Finger Lakes Runners Club, Attorney Jim Reed is a fiery biker on the verge of a comeback onto Elmira’s racing scene, and Adam Gee is a multi-talented athlete who can surely hold his own in the water.  Besides, this is a local race and we will just enter in order to have a good time.

It was not until AFTER Jim and I convinced Adam to come aboard that we actually checked Cayuga’s website (http://www.ithacatriathlonclub.org/race/) and learned it is the host to this year’s Sprint NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!

Had we been duped by Ray Schlather?  Parlayed into signing up for some reason completely unbeknownst to us?  We soon learn Ray’s firm, Schlather, Geldenhuys, Stumbar & Salk (http://www.ithacalaw.com/), actually entered it’s own team and Ray himself will be participating, leaving us with only one option. 

Start training.  And thus Team Ziff and the Ziff Law Athlete’s Forum was born. 

As it turns out most of the attorneys at Ziff Law are avid athletes (or at least passionate sportsfans.)  We have hockey players, golfers, skiers, bikers, runners, soccer aficionados and one ultra die-hard Notre Dame University junkie.  It is our hope and intention to pour our love of sports into this forum to allow you the joy of reading and us the fun of sharing tales from the frontlines.
