Finger Lakes Runners Club to Host Speed Workouts

1:50 pm Uncategorized

Beginning on May 27, 2008, the Finger Lakes Runners Club will hold weekly speed workouts at the Horseheads High School Track from 6:00 to 7:30 each Tuesday evening.

The purpose of the workouts is to provide a fun, fast forum through which local runners can develop their speed and learn to run faster.

The workouts will serve runners of all ages and abilities.  Ranging from 100 meter sprints to two-mile repeats, the sessions will allow all types of runners improve in their respective events.

The workouts will benefit 12:00 milers and 5:00 milers equally.  Runners will be seeded in heats according to ability in order to best serve the needs of each athlete.

Studies have shown weekly speedwork is one of the most reliable ways to improve race performances at all distances, including the marathon.  These sessions will give area runners a chance to perform intense workouts with friends and hopefully improve the overall quality of running in the area.

All workouts will be posted by Friday of the preceding week right here on the Ziff Law Athletes Forum.
